I have been involved in the cat world since I was very young as my parents bred British S/H, Persians and Exotics. Over the years I found myself wanting to breed as well so at 15 I got my first prefix Nikiska and bred solid Persians.
Currently my husband and I are involved with Russian Blues breeding under the prefix of Nevaska. While it is still very early in our breeding programme, we are extremely happy with our achievements. My parents (Chris & Terry Merritt) and myself are involved in the breeding of the beautiful Burmese with which we have had major success over the years with.
Devon Rex have always been a love and while no longer breeding them, I am still very much involved through friends with this breed. I am currently the President of The Curly Coats Cat Club of Qld Inc and secretary of the Exotic Cat Club of Qld Inc.

I was first shown the cat show world by Bernadette Roberts & Ian Honour. They had a display for SABCC (Speciality Allbreeds Cat Club) at Stafford City shopping centre in 1992. I was involved in cat rescue and I had Max my chocolate old type Persian. I started showing him as group 4 (Companion) with the help of Dette and Ian.
In 1996 my daughter Meena came along and she had her first cat show at 24 days old. I thought this was a lot of fun and I like Persians, so I got my first show boy "Fang" Songtyme Shylock and he did very well. I got my own Prefix "Cocochanel".
Over the years I have been very busy with rescue work and as Meena grows up with school etc. I have been on her school P & C for the last 6 years and still go to most cats shows. I am now breeding Selkirk Rex, I am a group 4 judge and am currently enjoying learning Group One to extend my licence.

I attended my first cat show as an exhibitor in 2000 and registered my first prefix later in that same year. I live in Hervey Bay and I breed Maine Coons under the prefix Cooncerto. I have imported a number of breeding cats from overseas in order to promote genetic diversity and I am passionate about breeding for health above all else. As president of the Fraser Coast Cat Club I managed several shows in the Fraser Coast area. I am now an active member of the Siamese and Shorthair Cat Club based in Brisbane and of CFCCQ. I have been active in the cat fancy since I began showing and I am delighted to be able to further my interest by participating in the CFCCQ judging program and by being invited to handle and judge your beautiful cats.

  • I began breeding pedigreed cats in Townsville, North Queensland, approximately 30 years ago under the Kavadh prefix. At this stage I bred Persians in several colours and patterns but particularly specialised in "colour-bred" cream, blue and bluecream Persians with considerable success. A few years later, with my husband Terry, I began to breed British S/H under the Carinya prefix and was very successful on the show bench. From there, we embarked on a program to breed Exotic S/H's experimentally. We continued with British and Exotics particularly until we moved to Toowoomba in 1994 when I was planning to retire from breeding cats. This is where the love affair with Burmese began. We continue to breed Burmese under the Jovelles prefix with our daughter Carolynn.
  • I became a Group 1 Judge in 1986 and an All-Breeds judge in 1992. I have judged throughout Australia on many occasions and have officiated at shows in New Zealand several times More recently, I was pleased to accept an invitation to judge in South Africa. This was a wonderful experience and one I hope to replicate in the future.
  • I am a Tutor Judge with Council of Federated Cat Clubs of Queensland Inc. and am on the CCC of A Tutor Judge's panel. I am currently on the Management Committee of Council of Federated Cat Clubs of Queensland Inc. and am the Honorary Secretary. For the past few years, I have held the position of Vice President of the Exotic Cat Club of Queensland Inc. and I am member of the Curly Coats cat Club of Queensland Inc.
  • More personally, I am married and have 3 grown children. Two are married and there are currently 8 grandchildren.
  • I teach in a local primary school - Year 2 (6-7 year olds). Besides my family and cats, I love going to the movies, reading and gardening.
  • We also operate a small boarding cattery on our 6 acre property in Toowoomba and in time, I will retire from teaching and spend more quality time with my cats and with the running of the boarding cattery.

  • I began breeding and showing Persians under the Sargon prefix in approximately 1977. With my wife Chris, I was a founding member of Orchid City Cat Club in Townsville and have been a member of the Exotic Cat Club of Queensland Inc for many years. As well as the Persians, we also included the breeding of British S/H under the Carinya prefix with many BIS winners. Next we embarked on an experimental breeding program to develop Exotic S/H with great success in this breed as well.
  • Since moving to Toowoomba some 12 years ago, we have been breeding Burmese with our daughter Carolynn under the Jovelles prefix. We are now achieving very good results with our breeding on the show bench with this breed.
  • I became an approved Group 1 Judge in 1989 and I am currently training in Group 2. I have judged in Australia as well as in New Zealand. Over the years, I have been involved in the running of many successful shows and am currently continuing to develop a computerized program for catalogues,
